Extension Agent for 4-H Youth Development – McCracken County

Paducah, KY
The Extension Agent provides leadership and management of 4-H youth development programs for the county. Responsibilities include implementing a well‑rounded program that develops youth through school and community‑based activities; recruiting and training volunteers and leaders; and utilizing or developing councils, advisory groups, and committees to address issues such as leadership development, community involvement, local government, community services, and community economic development.
The Agent will disseminate practical information on Agriculture, Family Consumer Sciences, 4-H, and Community and Rural Development as required by state statutes.
State law requires a national and state criminal background check and a letter from the Cabinet for Health and Family Services indicating clearance to hire based on child‑abuse/background checks. Resume, cover letter, and transcripts are required at the time of application.
Responsibilities- Implement a comprehensive program that fosters youth development through school and community outreach.
- Recruit, train, and support volunteer leaders and helpers.
- Develop and manage councils, advisory groups, and committees focused on leadership, community service, and economic development.
- Coordinate dissemination of practical information on Agriculture, Family Consumer Sciences, 4-H, and Rural Development.
- Effective oral and written communication with individuals, groups, and through mass media.
- Proficient computer skills for program delivery and management.
- Ability to visit clients at sites throughout the county.
- Experience planning and teaching educational programs.
- Demonstrated leadership and ability to serve as a positive role model.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Agriculture, Family & Consumer Sciences, Social Science, or a related field.

Work Schedule &Physical Requirements
Monday‑Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with evenings and weekends as needed; most weeks will exceed 40 hours.
Physical duties include travel, including overnight stays, site visits across the county, standing/walking for long periods, and handling objects up to 25 lbs.
