Foster Traditional Academy. Salary schedule: 1AGrade 8, salary range $24.52/hr - $26.96/hr working calendar: 187 days / 7 hours. Stipend $1.00 per hour.

• Recognizes that all responsibilities are basically supportive.
• Assists in implementing each student's individual education plan.
• Helps establish and maintain a pleasant, safe, and structured learning environment.
• Displays willingness and aptitude to work with students with disabilities.

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Passing score on the Kentucky Para educator Exam (KPA) or 48 college semester hours.
• Willingness and aptitude to work with students with disabilities.
• Physical ability and willingness to assist with physical needs of students such as positioning, toileting, and lifting.
• Willingness to attend district ECE in-service for professional growth.

Exceptional Child Education programs are designed to meet the needs of students whose approach to learning is different from that of their peers. The district is committed to providing a high‑quality education for students with disabilities. Programs cover a range of conditions including moderate to severe disabilities, mild mental disabilities, other health impairments, emotional‑behavioral disabilities, autism, visual impairment, hearing impairment, learning disabilities, social communication, or combinations thereof.

Assignments may change during the school year based on student and classroom needs.

Applicants should note that a Kentucky Para educator Assessment Exam is required for those with a high school or GED education. The exam is free and offers up to three attempts. Additional resources and scheduling information are available through the district’s Adult Education department. Applicants with credentials obtained outside the U.S. must have their qualifications evaluated by an approved agency before consideration.
