Job SummaryAssumes responsibility for helping students resolve non‑academic problems that may interfere with their learning, and helps them achieve the fullest benefits from programs, services, and offerings.
Essential Job Functions- Protect the education, health, and welfare of students assigned.
- Participate in the development, maintenance, and distribution of student calendars, handbooks, bulletins, and the like; work with attendance personnel regarding all matters of student attendance.
- Counsel individual students and make appropriate referrals for testing, guidance, or psychologists, social workers, and other personnel when necessary.
- Make recommendations for appropriate revisions of policies and rules affecting students.
- Serve as an active member of the school’s discipline committee.
- Resolve discipline problems fairly and justly, maintaining records of disciplinary actions; confer with parents, teachers, counselors, support service personnel, and students on disciplinary and welfare matters.
- Counsel with students, parents, and teachers regarding student progress, special needs, and preventative and positive approaches to discipline.
- Assist in interpreting school and district programs, policies, and procedures to students.
- Communicate with parents, staff, community, and governmental agencies on problems and solutions related to individual and student group issues.
- Assist in developing and administering campus control and security practices; assist with supervision.
- Analyze data during extended employment.
- Demonstrate ability to communicate in more than one language or willingness to learn to do so at novice proficiency.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Maintain regular attendance.
Education and Experience:
- Master’s Degree
- Three (3) years of successful teaching experience
Licenses or
Certifications:
- School Principal Certification
- Work performed while standing, sitting, and/or walking
- Requires communication effectively using speech, vision, and hearing
- Requires use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations
- Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching
- Requires ability to lift, carry, push or pull light weights
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required
