SUMMARY
Teaches a full range of skills and knowledge for the certificate program in medical coding. Prepares students to pass the CPC examination.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Presents facilitative, well‑prepared, organized, and clear lectures and classroom activities consistent with the course syllabus (AAPC curriculum, medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, advanced medical coding, HCPCS coding, ICD‑10 coding) and school policies.
- Continually promotes students’ development and effective use of skills in areas such as critical and analytical thinking, evaluation, communication, professionalism, customer service, computation, problem solving, and decision‑making.
- Ability to instruct through remote and in‑person delivery (Blackboard, virtual classroom, and/or online using a Learning Management System).
- Provides the student with timely information and feedback on his/her academic progress relative to quizzes, tests, homework, and projects.
- Maintains accurate, up‑to‑date records of student academic and attendance performance.
- Possesses thorough knowledge and understanding of all college policies, and actively participates in their implementation and enforcement.
- Follows all retention policies of the college to ensure students are in attendance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Must be a Certified Professional Coder Instructor (CPC‑I) with the AAPC.
- Minimum of three years of experience as a Medical Coding Specialist in the field.
- Minimum of three years of teaching or related field experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing key metrics.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to assess and grade the progress of students.
- Ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment.
- Sensitivity to appropriately respond to the needs of a diverse population.

- Demonstrated experience with online instruction.

- The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment.
- The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
- Typical duties include sitting comfortably, repetitive motions with hands/fingers using a computer mouse and keyboard to type. Some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items (papers, files, pamphlets, books, etc.) may occur.
- Work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite.
Set‑Rate Non‑Bargaining Part‑Time Position: This is a Part‑Time Non‑Bargaining Unit Position, with the following Set Rate of Pay: $30.30/hour.
