ThePosition
As an Intervention Specialist, you’ll provide specialized instruction and oversee Special Education services and compliance for students with disabilities. You’ll collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to support IEPs, individualized instruction, and students’ academic success and well-being.
Primary responsibilities include:- Lead the Response to Intervention process and facilitate the development, implementation, and monitoring of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Provide specialized instruction in one-on-one, small-group, and inclusion settings in accordance with IEPs and student support plans.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, administrators, and support staff to ensure student needs are effectively addressed, and IEP provisions are followed.
- Adapt and enrich curriculum using differentiated instruction, technology, and multiple teaching strategies to engage students with diverse learning needs.
- Maintain accurate student records, including IEPs, progress reports, lesson plans, attendance, grades, and behavioral documentation.
- Complete IEP progress reports at least quarterly and maintain accurate, confidential student files.
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and stimulating learning environment that promotes academic achievement, positive relationships, and student development.
- Remain current on applicable Special Education laws, rules, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and contribute to the development of school programs, instructional materials, policies, and teaching practices.
- Maintain student confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in all aspects of the role.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Current Ohio Department of Education (ODE) Intervention Specialist license required.
- 1-2 years of experience working with students with disabilities preferred.
- Experience with Evaluations Team Reports (ETRs), Intervention Assistance Teams (IATs), and IEP development preferred.
- Proven classroom instructional and management skills, with the ability to differentiate instruction for students with varying abilities and needs.
- Commitment to supporting students from diverse social, educational, and economic backgrounds, in achieving their academic and personal goals.
Positions are available at multiple schools across Ohio, including in Lorain, Columbus, Akron, and Cleveland.
