Overview

This is an intern level position. Intern will gain practical, hands‑on experience in the utility industry under close supervision. Learn to perform maintenance and installation work in high voltage electrical substations position offers you the opportunity to gain hands‑on experience at a LG&E and KU Energy facility. This position will provide challenging projects, networking advantages, and a chance to learn from experienced energy industry professionals in the energy transmission fields.

Responsibilities
  • Comply with all safety rules, regulations, and procedures applicable to assigned duties.
  • Develop the skills needed to progress to higher classifications through a combination of home study, classroom, and On the Job Training (OJT).
  • Identify any damaged or defective equipment or hazardous conditions and promptly report to supervision.
  • Keep all equipment, tools, materials and work areas in a clean, orderly, and good working condition.
  • Perform such other duties as directed by his/her superior.
  • Learn the safe and correct operation of tools and equipment used by Substation P&C and use them properly under the direction and guidance of others.
  • Become familiar with electrical prints, switching diagrams, technical manuals, maintenance and test procedures associated with employees assigned duties.
  • Participate in a Training and Development program and develop a general knowledge of electrical fundamentals, electrical transmission and distribution equipment and its operation, and a basic skill level in routine Substation P&C functions through a combination of classroom, at home and On-The Job Training (OJT) programs.
  • Employee will actively participate in the Safety Training program to learn and follow the specific governmental, corporate and departmental rules, regulations, and procedures applicable to SC&M functions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications

Must be currently enrolled and pursuing a degree in a technical field. Applicable degree fields include Engineering and Electronics Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Advanced Automation & Robotics Technology, or a related field.

Minimum 2.50 GPA.
