Overview
Engineering Technician Principal (Division of Engineering). Salary:
The minimum salary is $25.730 per hour

The purpose of this position is to coordinate, inspect, and oversee engineering projects related to new construction, traffic, drainage and/or sanitary sewers. This position may also supervise one or more crews of subordinate engineering technicians.
Minimum Requirements- Associate s degree or two (2) years of college education in a related field
- Four (4) years of experience performing sub-professional engineering work related to area of assignment and understanding of civil engineering principles with respect to infrastructure development.
- Knowledge of right of way acquisition is preferred.

- Valid driver s license
- Observes construction and conducts inspections of capital, private sector land subdivision, and commercial development projects for conformance with construction documents, design specifications, and regulatory standards
- Provides day-to-day onsite inspection of infrastructure construction such as grading, storm/sanitary pipe and structures, sidewalk, curb/gutter, and paving. Prepares daily inspection reports. Prepares monthly erosion control inspection reports.
- Coordinates and oversees engineering projects to include project schedules and activities, costs, invoice review, evaluation of contractor s work, problem resolution, and other duties as necessary
- Verifies quantities for payment and reviews invoicing. Prepares punchlist items for final project acceptance.
- Acquires easement and real estate to facilitate construction of capital projects
- Responsible for expenditures required in the acquisition process
- Collects land survey field data and produces related plans, designs, and drawings, as assigned
- Maintains proper communication with other departments, divisions, businesses, and citizens; represents the Division and LFUCG at applicable internal and external meetings
- Serves as the primary contact with property owners during easement and right of way acquisitions
- Performs data entry, reporting, and other administrative duties as necessary
- Utilizes the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet KROWDS right of way database for entry and tracking of all easement and right-of-way acquisition activities on federally funded projects
- Maintains Survey Monument Network, as assigned
- Reviews and researches plans, plats, and deeds; negotiates acquisitions and performs closings, as assigned
- Creates and issues official communication documents to include letters of non-compliance, violations, and affidavits of release
- Supervises, trains, reviews, and evaluates the work of assigned subordinate technicians
- Performs related work as assigned

Special RequirementsMaybe subject to callback duty or occasional evening or weekend work as assigned or during emergencies. In accordance with CAO Policy 23R "Acquisition of Real Property From Property Owners under Certain Notices and/or Orders", no employee who works in a Division with regulatory or civil enforcement authority over real property located in Fayette County shall acquire an interest in real property in Fayette County with any outstanding citation, notice or order from the Division in which he or she works regardless of whether the citation, notice, or order was issued by the employee or someone else in the Division.
This policy extends to immediate family members and the Commissioner of the Department in which the identified employee is employed. Employees may be required to disclose all real property owned by the employee as well as his/her immediate family members. Property and business ownership exemptions may apply. All positions require drug testing and background check before employment and may require a post-job offer physical as stated in Ordinances 21-14(b), 22-13 and 23-16
