Project Controls Specialist
We are seeking a detail-oriented Project Controls Specialist to support a long-term contract opportunity in Lexington, KY. This role is responsible for leading project controls processes and partnering closely with the project management team to ensure successful delivery of projects within budget and on schedule. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical capabilities, scheduling expertise, and a proactive approach to cost and performance management.
Key Responsibilities- Lead project controls processes to support execution of project deliverables
- Set up and maintain projects within Enterprise Planning & Controls software
- Analyze project data, review logs, and generate reports using project controls tools
- Develop and maintain Work Breakdown Structures (WBS)
- Prepare and manage scheduling reports, cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and project projections
- Support engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) planning, scheduling, logistics, and cost control
- Serve as a technical point of contact for project controls-related inquiries
- Review and approve Purchase Orders and Subcontracts for proper cost coding
- Track, document, and manage changes to cost reports and forecasts
- Collaborate with Project Management and Accounting teams on cost reviews, contingency tracking, and audit support
- Review and manage upstream and downstream change orders
- Develop and present cash flow reports
- Create and manage schedules at varying levels of complexity
- Apply and validate logic ties within project schedules
- Monitor and manage resource loading within schedules
- Support Interactive Project Planning Meetings (IPPM)
- Generate and tailor schedule reports for stakeholders
- Analyze schedule performance, including critical path and forecasting impacts
- Perform schedule "what-if" scenario analysis
- Develop and maintain earned value management (EVM) systems
- Track and validate progress measurement and maintain progress curves
- Perform material takeoffs as needed
- Conduct quality checks on project controls deliverables
- Perform field audits to ensure reporting accuracy and process compliance
- Assist with project forensic analysis when required
- Ensure compliance with all company policies and safety standards
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field and 3+ years of direct project controls experience. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Experience with Oracle Primavera P6 preferred
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
- Ability to analyze complex data and provide actionable insights
- OSHA 10-hour certification (or ability to obtain)
- Willingness to travel approximately one week per month
