Mechanical Chief Engineer – Lockheed Martin Missiles & Fire Control
Lockheed Martin is seeking a Mechanical Chief Engineer to design and complete modifications on military vehicle and aircraft platforms in support of the warfighter. The role is based in Lexington, KY, and is part of the Special Operations Forces Global Logistics Support Services contract.
Key Responsibilities- Accountable for all aspects of engineering and technology activities within programs, ensuring mission milestones and business objectives are met.
- Serve as the primary technical authority; interface with program management and external customers.
- Ensure proposals have sound technical solutions, schedules, and affordability.
- Lead a technical team of cross‑functional engineers to achieve system/product development and execution.
- Evaluate and resolve complex issues cost‑effectively and innovatively, champion mission success.
- Direct risk posture and develop mitigation strategies for complex projects.
- Ensure selected designs are robust with appropriate margins for safety, performance, producibility, and operational availability/supportability.
- Maintain program plans and technical baselines consistent with Program Control processes and modern engineering practices.
- Identify lessons learned and implement corrective action to improve future programs.
- Provide technical mentoring and career development support to the team.
- Experience with 3D parametric modeling in CATIA, Solid Works, or similar software.
- Experience with creation, review, and approval of engineering change documentation.
- Experience creating ANSI/ASME Y14.100 compliant drawings.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Experience working in an aerospace environment.
- Experience with CATIA V5, Creo, Solid Works, or other 3D parametric modeling programs.
Position requires a government security clearance; candidate must be a U.S. Citizen. Clearance level:
Secret.
