Responsibilities
  • The Level II Aircraft Structural Mechanic provides advanced structural maintenance, modification, and repair for the H‑6, H‑60, and H‑47 rotary‑wing fleets. This role executes complex unscheduled repairs, leads Level I mechanics on high‑priority tasks, and ensures all structural work meets or exceeds airworthiness standards to support time‑sensitive Special Operations missions.
  • Perform high‑complexity modifications to frames, beams, fuselage, wings, tail assemblies, landing‑gear attachments, doors, and hatches using riveting, fastening, trimming, sanding, bonding, and composite repair techniques.
  • Lead inspections for structural damage, corrosion, cracks, and other defects; execute removal, treatment, and preventative programs; provide technical guidance to junior mechanics.
  • Fabricate, install, and replace sheet‑metal and composite panels, fairings, and structural components per engineering drawings and service bulletins.
  • Conduct and certify phase, isochronal, and periodic inspections; identify early‑life‑limit concerns and recommend corrective actions.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, repair manuals, structural repair schemes, and service bulletins; ensure accurate entry of work in maintenance logs, modification/production instructions, and military documentation systems.
  • Lead rigging tasks to verify proper alignment of airframe assemblies and control surfaces after repairs or modifications.
  • Perform final QA checks, verify compliance with airworthiness standards, and release aircraft for flight.
  • Provide structural repairs in both flight‑line and depot environments; coordinate with depot shops for major repairs and back‑shop support.
  • Train, mentor, and supervise Level I Aircraft Structural Mechanics; allocate work, review technical data, and ensure safety compliance.
  • Adapt to shift variations, travel, and deployment requirements; support multiple aircraft types as mission needs dictate.

Basic Qualifications
  • Aircraft Handling Knowledge - Proficient in safe jacking, towing, and positioning of H‑6/H‑60/H‑47 helicopters for structural work.
  • Maintenance Documentation - Ability to independently navigate, record, and validate structural repairs and inspections in all required logs and systems.
  • Quality Assurance - Proven experience verifying completed work against airworthiness and safety standards.
  • Depot Maintenance Experience - Competent performing structural repairs in both flight‑line and depot‑level settings.
  • Operational Flexibility - Effective in team and independent environments; adaptable to shift changes, travel, or deployment.
Desired Skills
  • Familiarity with CH‑MH‑47 and UH‑MH‑60 airframes; and AH / MH6. Ability to transition between H‑6, H‑60, and H‑47.
  • Sheet‑metal fabrication, precision riveting, and welding.
  • Composite repairs (lay‑up, bonding, patching).
  • High‑precision work with tight tolerances.
  • Experience supervising junior mechanics, conducting training, and reviewing work products.
  • FAA A&P license, DoD aircraft structural certification, or equivalent military qualifications preferred.
  • Completion of Rotor‑Wing Structural Maintenance School or equivalent advanced courses.
Security Clearance

This position requires a government security clearance; you must be a U.S. Citizen for consideration.
