Role descriptionEngineers responsible for roadway drainage and design-build projects across the southeast, including collector streets, urban arterials, rural and urban expressways, interstates, and bridge replacements.
Accountabilities- Engineering design for various roadway drainage and design-build projects.
- Assist in all aspects of roadway drainage design including bridge hydraulic studies, culvert design, closed drainage system design, post‑construction water quality structures design, and erosion and sedimentation control.
- Prepare construction plans and project displays.
- Prepare cost estimates, reports and technical memos.
- Utilize various design software including Micro Station, Inroads, Geo Pak, Open Roads, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Excel, GIS, HEC‑RAS, HY8, Flow Master, ICPR, StormCAD, SMS, SRH2D, and HEC‑RAS 2D to assist with the design and preparation of construction plans.
- Coordinate with project managers, ecologists, and roadway engineers.
- Direct junior engineer’s design activities.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of drainage design and project management experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- EIT
- Experience working on DOT projects a plus.
- Basic understanding of FEMA floodplain regulations.
- Knowledge of stormwater design including open channel conveyance and closed drainage systems.
- Knowledge of stormwater treatment using appropriate BMPs suitable for the linear nature of transportation projects.
- Use of various software platforms including Bentley’s StormCAD, Culvert Master, Flow Master, ICPR, HEC‑RAS, HEC‑HMS, HY8, ICPR, SWMM, SMS, SRH2D, and HEC‑RAS 2D.
- Possess good communication (written and verbal), teamwork skills and the flexibility to complete a wide range of tasks including field work.
- Exhibit the initiative and ability to tackle new projects and other challenges regularly.
- NCEES record a plus.

Nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $87,912 - $131,868. Actual salaries vary based on experience, education, budget, internal equity, project, and location.
