Job SummaryReporting to the Controls Engineering Supervisor, you will learn and be trained to provide a working knowledge of electronic control systems, HVAC, and building automation field devices, including sensors, actuators, controllers, and network infrastructure used to support the campus-wide mechanical and monitoring systems for the UK Enterprise. You will help reduce the need for emergency repairs, extend equipment life, and save money by promptly restoring operations, minimizing business interruptions, and safeguarding well-being.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the maintenance and repair of electronic control systems, HVAC components, and building automation equipment.
- Support the installation, troubleshooting, and calibration of sensors, actuators, and controllers.
- Operate and manage network infrastructure for automated controls.
- Respond to on-call rotations for night, weekend, and holiday incidents.
- Record work orders and maintain documentation in electronic work order software.
- Collaborate with team members and independently execute tasks.
- Associate’s Degree (AS) in an engineering or technical field.
- At least 5 years of related experience in controls, HVAC, or building automation.
- Proficiency with MS Windows/Office, KRONOS, and SAP.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand/power tools.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work outdoors, and perform physical tasks (walking, crouching, climbing, squatting).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good listening, adaptability, and teamwork skills.
- Active learning and practical application of new skills.
- High School diploma + 7 years of experience.
- Associate’s Degree + 5 years of experience.
- NCCER Instrumentation Levels 1-4 certification.
- ISA Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST) Level 1.
- Standing or walking, handling objects up to 25 lbs; sitting at computer workstation for extended periods.
- May be exposed to loud noises, fumes, confined spaces, and weather/temperature extremes.
- Shift: 7:30 am - 4:00 pm, Monday-Friday with possible night, weekend, and holiday work based on emergencies; subject to on-call rotation.
