Senior Project Manager - HVAC
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager - HVAC to lead large-scale mechanical and MEP projects from preconstruction through commissioning. The role is responsible for delivering projects on time, within budget and to quality and safety standards, coordinating cross-functional teams, and maintaining strong client relationships. The ideal candidate combines deep technical HVAC and mechanical knowledge with proven project management and construction leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end project delivery for HVAC and MEP projects, including planning, execution, monitoring and closeout.
- Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, forecasts and resource plans; ensure projects meet cost, schedule and quality objectives.
- Coordinate design review, constructability analysis and value engineering with engineering teams and subcontractors to optimize solutions.
- Manage procurement and subcontractor selection, negotiation and performance oversight; enforce contract compliance and change order control.
- Serve as primary client and stakeholder contact; maintain clear communication, provide progress reports, and handle issue resolution and expectations management.
- Implement and enforce safety, quality assurance and commissioning procedures across projects to meet regulatory and company standards.
- Lead, mentor and develop project teams including engineers, superintendents and field staff; foster collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Monitor project risks and proactively implement mitigation measures; maintain accurate project documentation and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with codes, standards and permitting requirements; coordinate inspections and regulatory approvals as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience managing HVAC/MEP projects in commercial, institutional, or industrial construction, with at least 5 years in a project management leadership role.
- Demonstrated technical expertise in HVAC systems, mechanical equipment, controls, ductwork and piping design and installation.
- Proven track record in project management: scheduling tools (MS Project or Primavera), budgeting, cost control and contract administration.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, MEP coordination, commissioning and quality control practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication and client-facing skills; experience managing cross-functional teams and multiple stakeholders.
- Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, local building codes) and permitting processes.
- Certifications preferred: PMP, LEED AP, Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent.
- Proficient in construction management software, BIM coordination and Microsoft Office suite.
- Willingness to travel to project sites and work flexible hours as project demands require.
