PGS Worldwide is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Lexington, KY for a 6-month contract role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company.
The Mechanical Design Engineer will support an engineering team focused on modifying existing hardware and integrating modified components into various platforms based on customer specifications. This role includes developing component and system designs from customer requirements and interface control documents while ensuring designs comply with applicable military specifications and design standards. The position requires CATIA V5 experience, mechanical design experience, and the ability to support fabrication, installation, and integration activities.
Required Skills
• Bachelor’s degree with 6–10 years of relevant experience, or master’s degree with 4–8 years of relevant experience.
• 5+ years of relevant experience required for consideration.
• CATIA V5 experience.
• Experience with 3D models.
• Engineering experience.
• Experience applying engineering design principles.
• Ability to develop component and system designs based on customer requirements.
• Ability to work from interface control documents.
• Ability to design in compliance with military specifications, SAE, ANSI, ASME, and related design and drafting standards.
• Ability to work with electrical and mechanical teams to develop design solutions.
• Ability to support in-house fabrication, installation, and integration activities.
• Ability to provide technical support to manufacturing and installation teams.
Preferred Skills
• Experience with mechanical design of structures, brackets, and mounts.
• Engineering release experience.
What You’ll Do
• Develop mechanical component and system designs.
• Modify existing hardware for integration into various platforms.
• Review customer specifications and interface control documents.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable military and industry standards.
• Work with electrical and mechanical teams to develop integrated design solutions.
• Support design completion, fabrication, installation, and integration.
• Provide technical support to manufacturing and installation personnel.
• Support engineering release activity as needed.
Pay
• $45.00 - $65.00 per hour
