The Electrical Engineering Manager plays a key role in the successful execution of projects and leadership of staff. This individual will provide technical and engineering excellence, as well as successful delivery of work to our customers. The Electrical Engineering Manager is responsible for a high level of customer satisfaction by ensuring expectations are clearly communicated and managed – both externally and internally.

The successful candidate will also create and contribute to a dynamic team environment by leading a group of electrical staff and fostering a highly collaborative working environment. This person will also actively support the business development process, through the writing of proposals and meeting with prospective and current customers.

Specific responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Leads a team of electrical engineers and designers.
  • Responsible for the growth of electrical staff by recruiting, on-boarding, mentoring and training employees.
  • Accomplishes electrical staff results by communicating job expectations, planning, actively monitoring and appraising project results.
  • Coaches, counsels and advocates for employees, promoting a culture of collaboration for KFI staff and ensuring accountability for our customers.
  • Allocates department resources to assure effective utilization and development of staff.
  • Ensures the development and coaching of the talent needed to meet current and future organization goals and provide personal growth opportunities for staff.
  • Actively leads electrical projects, driving them to completion. This will require a combination of strong delegation and follow-up, combined with personal execution of work as needed.
  • Develops detailed work plans, schedules and engineering budgets for the execution of electrical projects.
  • Designs building electrical systems, including one or more of the following: medium voltage, 480-volt power generation, and power distribution systems.
  • Designs power and lighting systems for healthcare and commercial facilities. This may include the design of special systems, such as ground fault, lightning protection, engine-generator, UPS, etc.
  • Prepares engineering documents and equipment specifications to meet contracted scope of work and to ensure application of Electrical Engineering Principles including single-line diagrams, plans, schedules, schematics and details.
