Where is the work:

Monday to Thursday, work onsite with your colleagues. Fridays, choose your work location, balancing what your work requires.

What's in it for you:

As a Custom Air Manufacturing System (CAMS) Engineer at Trane, you will be responsible for helping identify root cause for quality and reliability issues with engineering documentation related to CAMS. Interpret and create design intents, formulation drawings, and Creo Models in accordance with standard engineering practices.

What you will do:

  • Investigate and resolve CAMS production issues:
    Perform root cause analysis for failures on the production line, focusing on historically problematic options or new product configurations.
  • Create and maintain CAMS engineering documentation:
    Develop and manage the core components of the CAMS system, including parametric Creo models, dynamic CAD templates, formulation drawings, and detailed specifications.
  • Develop and refine CAMS logic:
    Author and troubleshoot the Boolean logic rules that drive the CAMS system, ensuring accurate part and assembly generation for each unique customer order.
  • Translate design needs into CAMS automation:
    Interpret engineering design intents and create robust CAMS formulation rules and models that accurately reflect design requirements for manufacturing.
  • Validate and improve CAMS output:
    Systematically check and correct automated outputs (such as BOMs, DXF files, and apriso data) and implement long-term fixes to prevent future issues.
  • Collaborate on design for automation:
    Partner with design and manufacturing engineers to ensure new product designs are optimized for manufacturability and automation within the CAMS framework.
  • Support system enhancements:
    Participate in risk assessments and design reviews to ensure the reliability and safety of all designs generated by CAMS.
  • Some travel may be required.

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
  • Experience contributing to technical aspects of product design projects, validation testing, and root cause analysis.
  • Experience with parametric CAD software (e.g., Creo) is required.
  • Experience with rule-based design, excel formulas and design automation systems is a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively across engineering, design, operations, and manufacturing teams.
  • Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and make progress across concurrent assignments.
  • Experience in HVAC, air handling equipment, or related engineered product environments preferred. Proficiency with standard engineering and business software tools.

Annual Base Salary Range or Hourly Base Pay Range:

$52,300.00 - $93,485.00
