    ability to work primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions for extended periods, must be able to stand and work for prolonged periods while patrolling campus and issuing parking citations, frequent interactions with the public, providing customer service and professionally handling challenging or upset individuals, must be able to operate a two-way radio and handheld electronic ticket writer, follow written and verbal instructions, provide directions to campus visitors, and accurately communicate information, ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 20 pounds.

  • Job Summary:

    The University of Kentucky is seeking a dependable and customer-focused Parking Control Officer (PCO) to support safe, efficient, and accessible campus transportation operations. This role plays an essential part in maintaining compliance with University parking regulations, enhancing the campus experience, and providing exceptional service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and motorists. The Parking Control Officer is responsible for monitoring parking areas and campus entrances, enforcing parking regulations, and promoting safe traffic operations throughout campus.

    Experience:

    Customer Service, Cash Handling, Parking/Security/Police experience. Hand-held ticket writer, T2 Flex Software, Cash Register/Credit Card Equipment, Vehicle Battery Charger, Hydraulic Cutter. Driver’s license preferred

What You Will Do
  • Enforce University parking regulations by verifying permits, issuing citations, and taking appropriate action on parking violations.
  • Monitor campus parking areas, entrances, and traffic flow to promote safe and efficient transportation operations.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by assisting motorists, answering questions, providing directions, and offering safety information in a professional manner.
  • Respond to vehicle-related issues and provide motorist assistance, including support with parking equipment and operational concerns.
  • Operate parking enforcement systems, handheld ticket-writing devices, two-way radios, and other technology used in daily operations.
  • Immobilize and impound vehicles in accordance with University policies and established procedures.
  • Conduct routine inspections of parking equipment, gates, and facilities; troubleshoot minor issues and communicate maintenance concerns to supervisors.
  • Process payments and maintain accurate cash-handling procedures using cash register and credit card equipment.
  • Support campus events and daily parking operations through curb painting, facility maintenance, and other assigned operational tasks.
  • Maintain knowledge of parking, bicycle, traffic, and safety regulations while operating University vehicles and equipment responsibly.
What You Will Bring

  • Experience providing professional customer service and communicating effectively with diverse populations, including students, faculty, staff, visitors, and motorists.
  • Ability to operate parking enforcement technology, handheld ticket-writing devices, communication equipment, and related operational tools.
  • Understanding of cash-handling procedures, citation processes, vehicle immobilization practices, and parking control operations.
