A well-established organization is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee all accounting operations for its Lexington, KY brand. This role is responsible for the full spectrum of financial reporting and accounting functions, including monthly close, general ledger oversight, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and balance sheet management.
The Controller will serve as a key business partner to the Brand General Manager(s), leading the annual budgeting process and providing strategic financial analysis to support operational decision-making. The ideal candidate will bring strong knowledge of accounting principles, job costing, and billing processes. Service industry experience is preferred.
This is a hands-on, detail-oriented leadership role suited for a professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and collaborates effectively with senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the monthly financial close process, including bank and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial statements
- Manage and develop accounting staff, including AP, AR, and payroll functions
- Monitor accounts receivable aging and partner with operational leaders to proactively address outstanding balances
- Serve as liaison to the Corporate Controller and parent company leadership
- Coordinate with external auditors as needed
- Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with management
- Ensure adherence to internal financial controls and company procedures
- Analyze and communicate key financial metrics to management
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business (Accounting preferred)
- Minimum of 6 years of progressive accounting experience in a supervisory or financial management role
- Strong experience with departmental P&Ls, balance sheet reconciliations, AP/AR, job costing, general ledger management, and inventory control
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Sage Intacct experience preferred, but not required
- Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with senior leadership
- Proven leadership experience managing accounting teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- Professional demeanor and high level of integrity
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)

- Perform regular computer-based accounting work and financial data entry
- Utilize Microsoft Excel and Word to prepare reports and documentation

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in structured environments
- Primarily sedentary role (up to 90% of the workday seated)
