Job Summary
The Associate Chief Financial Officer, UK Health Care, is a key executive leader supporting the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. This role provides strategic financial leadership for a complex, mission‑driven academic medical center, partnering with senior leaders to advance clinical care, education, research, and long‑term financial sustainability. The ACFO oversees budgeting, financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and operational performance while helping guide major strategic initiatives and investments.
Key Responsibilities- Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting for the College of Medicine.
- Partner with executive leaders to support strategic decision-making and resource allocation.
- Drive financial performance, operational efficiency, and long‑range planning initiatives.
- Develop financial analytics and performance measures to support organizational goals.
- Lead and develop finance teams while fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in finance, accounting (including GAAP), internal controls, and reimbursement in an integrated healthcare environment, preferably in an academic medical center.
- Deep understanding of the healthcare industry, trends, issues, risks, etc.
- Ability to gain respect and confidence with professional peers.
- Management & leadership experience in healthcare.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and executive presence.
- Must possess high ethical standards with ability to build teams and relationships with results orientation and commitment to staff development.
A Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Hospital Administration, Accounting, Finance or a closely related field is ideal. Certified Public Accountant preferred. Membership in and designation from a professional society such as HFMA, ACHE and/or CPME is also preferred.
