Position Summary
A growing wealth management firm is seeking a Tax Manager to lead and expand its tax services practice. This individual will play a key role in managing client tax engagements, providing strategic tax planning, and serving as a trusted advisor to high-net-worth individuals, families, and business owners. The ideal candidate is technically strong, client-focused, entrepreneurial, and excited to help build and shape a growing tax practice.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the preparation and review of individual, fiduciary, gift, trust, and business tax returns
- Develop and implement proactive tax planning strategies for high-net-worth clients and business owners
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, providing guidance on tax matters and responding to inquiries
- Identify tax-saving opportunities related to income, investments, estate planning, and business transactions
- Collaborate closely with financial advisors to deliver integrated wealth management and tax solutions
- Research complex tax issues and communicate recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders
- Monitor tax law changes and assess potential impacts on clients
- Lead client meetings and present tax strategies in a clear, consultative manner
- Manage multiple client engagements while ensuring accuracy and timely delivery
- Support practice growth through client relationship development, referrals, and business development efforts
- Assist with establishing and improving tax processes, workflows, and best practices
- Mentor and develop junior tax professionals as the team continues to grow
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or related field
- CPA designation required or strongly preferred
- 5+ years of public accounting, family office, wealth management, or tax advisory experience
- Strong technical knowledge of individual, partnership, S-Corporation, trust, and estate taxation
- Experience working with high-net-worth individuals and closely held businesses
- Proficiency with tax preparation and research software
- Strong client relationship management and communication skills
- Ability to translate complex tax concepts into practical advice
- Entrepreneurial mindset with an interest in helping grow a developing tax practice
- Master's in Taxation (MST) preferred
- Experience integrating tax planning into broader wealth management strategies
- Exposure to estate planning, charitable giving, and succession planning
- Experience leading client engagements and mentoring staff
