Job Description & How to Apply Below

Tru Diagnostic is a leading epigenetic testing company at the forefront of the longevity and preventive health revolution. Operating out of our CLIA-certified, CAP-accredited laboratory, we leverage the largest private DNA methylation database in the world to give healthcare providers, individuals, and researchers the insights they need to understand aging at the molecular level and take proactive steps toward better health.

Our science is not developed in isolation. We co-develop and peer-review our algorithms in partnership with world-leading institutions including Harvard, Yale, Duke, Stanford, and Columbia, and our work powers more than 300 research studies and a growing body of peer-reviewed publications. Our flagship Tru Age™ platform measures biological age across hundreds of thousands of methylation markers, drawing on validated algorithms like Dunedin PACE and the OMICmAge algorithm we developed alongside Harvard.

We're a fast-paced startup with an A-team of players who are genuinely excellent at what they do. We're pushing the actual forefront of science, we've got real IP to show for it, and it's a 74 eNPS company where people are trusted with real ownership and given the room to run with it.

That same intensity is what makes this a genuinely interesting finance seat. We're a CLIA lab, an R&D engine that doesn't amortize neatly, a research services business, a clinical channel, and a consumer brand, all in one company, all behaving differently, all growing fast. Untangling that, and building the function that can explain it to a CEO and a Board, is real work, not a maintenance job.

About

This Role

This is a CFO-track role. You'll own finance execution and report directly to our CEO, with a defined path to becoming our CFO as the transition proves out. Prior CFO experience is welcome, but it's not the bar — proving you can run this seat is.

Right now that means the operating model: forecasting, budgeting, cash, monthly close, and getting real clarity on unit economics across five business lines that don't behave the same way. You'll work directly with the leadership team and the Board, and you'll build the model yourself. We're not big enough yet for you to hand that off to someone else — that's the fun part.

What

We're Looking For

We're hiring a strong execution leader on a defined path to CFO, not a sitting public-company CFO. What matters most is that you've actually run finance inside a complex, regulated business, that you can build a model as well as defend it, and that you want the scope and the track, not just the title.

Required Qualifications
  • Diagnostics or health tech finance experience, clinical diagnostics ideal. You know lab economics, reimbursement, and an R&D-heavy P&L from having worked in one
  • Owned finance at real scale, as the #1 or a clear #2 (VP, SVP, EVP of Finance, or Chief Accounting Officer). Prior CFO experience is welcome but not required
  • Technical accounting fluency plus hands-on FP&A. You can close the books and build the forecast
  • You own the model. You can defend the assumptions line by line and rebuild it when things change
  • A track record of building and leveling a finance team, not only running one you inherited

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Institutional financing or diligence experience: built the model, ran the data room, know what outside capital asks for
    • Produced financials that held up with external auditors
    • Scaled a finance function ahead of the company instead of behind it
    • Experience with complex corporate structures: multi-entity accounting, layered cap tables, equity administration
    • Genuine excitement about the underlying science
    Growth Path

This role is explicitly built as a CFO succession track. Strong execution in Phase 1, forecasting, close, controls, and team-building, earns full CFO scope in Phase 2: capital strategy, investor relationships, and corporate development. Advancement is evaluated on demonstrated readiness, not tenure.

    Work Location

Hybrid, someone based within or near Lexington, KY, and/or willing to relocate. We'd like you here most days, though not necessarily every day. If you're the right person and you're not local, let's talk.
