- Shift Day shift; 7x 12-hour shifts per biweekly pay period; may require rotation of night-shift coverage as needed.

The Trauma/Gen Surgery Inpatient APP Advanced Practice Provider works within the adult ICU, progressive care, and acute care areas and is an integral member of the multidisciplinary health care team. The APP primarily manages critically and acutely ill adults and serves as a resource throughout UKHC for intensive care interventions. The APP is generally on a service-aligned team and manages day-to-day patient care from the emergency department for trauma alerts, ICU level care and step down, to discharge.
In some instances, the APP may have responsibilities for this same patient population as they return for follow-up in the outpatient setting. This position is primarily on day shift. However, there may be night coverage requirements as needed. The APP has a strong foundation in evidence-based practice and education and is responsible for ensuring an environment of safe, quality care.
The APP demonstrates advanced medical and nursing knowledge, clinical and technical competency, sound clinical judgment, professionalism related to interpersonal and general communication skills, timely and compliant documentation, and takes responsibility for ongoing professional development and competency validation.
• Manages critically and acutely ill adults across ICU, step-down and acute care settings.
• Provides intensive care interventions and day-to-day patient care from emergency department to discharge.
• Serves as a resource throughout the UKHC for critical care support.
• Provides support in the outpatient setting for follow-up of this patient population.
• Provides education and promotes evidence-based practice.
• Ensures safe, quality care; documents timely and compliantly; maintains professional development and competency validation.
Qualifications- Education:
MSN for Nurse Practitioners or BS for Physician Assistants. - Certification: APRN with ACNP certification or enrollment in Post Master’s ACNP program within one year of hire or PA-C.
- Experience:
No experience required; preferred prior trauma surgery experience. - Work environment:
Ability to sit, stand, walk, push, pull, lift up to 10lbs regularly and up to 50lbs occasionally.
