Job SummaryThis is a 12‑month, full‑time position in the Department of Veterinary Science’s Maxwell H. Gluck Equine Research Center and the Veterinary Diagnostic Lab at the University of Kentucky. The successful candidate will engage in mentored research addressing equine musculoskeletal issues with transdisciplinary collaborations. The appointee will have 100% research commitment and will be administratively responsible to the fellowship chair professor. Mentorship will come from Dr.
Bruno Menarim, and collaboration will include faculty and clinical partners such as Laura Kennedy, James Mac Leod, Emma Adam, Jennifer Janes, Allen Page, and Katherine Garret.
- Perform mentored research in musculoskeletal sciences using innovative approaches to investigate, manage, and/or prevent musculoskeletal injuries or disease.
- Research areas will include current and emerging musculoskeletal health threats, enhancing epidemiological surveillance and monitoring capabilities, and developing strategies to mitigate equine musculoskeletal health risks.
- Collect and process data within the disciplines of epidemiology, diagnostic imaging, and pathology, using state‑of‑the‑art technologies.
- Write and submit at least one manuscript under the mentorship of supporting faculty and adjunct collaborators.
No supervisory responsibilities.
PreferredEducation and Experience
- Clinical experience (internship or equivalent) in an area relevant to equine surgery and/or sports medicine is desirable, though not required.
- Good communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within interdisciplinary teams and engage with diverse backgrounds.
- Experience with epidemiology and data analysis is a valuable skill set.
