Job Summary
The University of Kentucky Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (UKVDL) develops and applies state‑of‑the‑art diagnostic methodologies to improve animal health, protect public health, and support the human‑animal bond through One Health principles.
Responsibilities- Perform network administration and maintain connectivity across the laboratory.
- Design, implement, and maintain database systems and large‑scale information systems.
- Manage software and hardware applications, ensuring reliable operation.
- Supervise, schedule, delegate tasks to IT technicians and evaluate their performance.
- Act as the designated IT Manager during university inclement‑weather closures.
- Bachelor of Science (BS) degree;
Computer Science preferred. - Minimum 4 years of related experience in IT, database design, or system administration.
- Proficiency with Java, C, Visual Basic, Access, SQL, CSS, HTML, and other web technologies.
- Hands‑on experience with virtual server environments such as Hyper‑V.
- Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and quality‑assurance systems.
- Ability to sit for long periods and work standard business hours (8 a.m. – 5 p.m.) with occasional evening or weekend duties.
