Technical Specialist

The Technical Specialist works to support the Lidar Team on various tasking. This individual provides oversight to technicians and other analysts in support of the team leadership. This position will work individually and as part of a team to support Incoming Lidar data processing and QC from the field; calibration of lidar data; producing high quality data deliveries to clients. The Technical Specialist has knowledge of all aspects of the Lidar workflow and performs rigorous QA/QC and assists in training of analysts and technicians.

A Technical Specialist produces consistent finished products and works to develop process efficiencies and improve methodologies.

Work with others to process, QC, and calibrate incoming lidar data

Takes ownership of work within the team for execution and QA/QC

Produce and Understand Lidar specifications and requirements

Create and understand the production of raster products

Visually inspect rasters and lidar point clouds

Know how to fix and address issues found in QC

Produce final deliverables ready to be delivered to the client

Aware of the status of all assigned projects within the team

Assists with detailed tracking and evaluation of projects, deadlines, workflow, and tasking

Ability to understand project contracts and scope of work

Effectively motivates associates across all levels

Ability to prioritize projects and tasking within the team

Provides direction to associates across all levels

Aids in hiring new team members

Demonstrates good judgment in the selection of the methods and techniques in problem resolution and troubleshooting

Excellent technical writing skills and the ability to take complex information and convey it easily

Ability to improve data processes

Performs rigorous QA/QC and data finalization practices

Excellent technical ability with ESRI, Global Mapper, and Cad Programs

Ability to understand and run proprietary tools

Produces data reports and final deliverables

Ability to automate workflows and tasks

Takes initiative to improve processes and efficiencies

Strong creative aptitude and ability to contribute to the development of the unique methods

Can apply creative ideas in practical application

Works with the Team Leaders and Directors to:

Assist in process and protocol training

Assist in execution of internal projects and special initiatives

Creation of and implementation of special programs

Manage and support the day-to-day operations of the team

Assist in process improvement

Working knowledge of the Lidar workflow

Consistently produces precise and accurate work

Maintains excellent data management and file organization practices

Develop resolution and accuracy statistical analysis

Demonstrates problem solving ability across software platforms

Shows flexibility when being tasked

Ability to work well within a team environment

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Provides oversight of tasking to ensure benchmarks and priorities are met

Shows aptitude for utilizing multiple geospatial software programs

Minimum Qualifications:

3+ years of experience in a Lidar production role

2+ years of experience in a leadership role

Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience

Advanced knowledge of Terra Solid (Lidar), Global Mapper, and ESRI Products

Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat

Proficiency in remote sensing production workflows

Proficiency in creating batch files to run command line tools

Preferred Qualifications:

Masters or higher

Knowledge of Python, CADD, and Visual Basic

Proficiency with compression and file transfer software

3+ years' experience in a technical, professional work environment
