The Transportation & Logistics Specialist serves as a subject‑matter expert responsible for planning, coordinating, and optimizing transportation and logistics operations. This cross‑functional role will be supporting and providing oversight to manufacturing, supply chain operations, and traffic groups to ensure efficient material flow and alignment with broader supply chain objectives.
What you'll do Key Strategic Responsibilities- Monitor transportation performance indicators and recommend service, route, or cost‑optimization improvements.
- Evaluate carrier performance issues and elevate systemic concerns when necessary.
- Analyze exception and in‑transit data to identify recurring delays or equipment shortages.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain Planners, Manufacturing, and Inventory teams to align transportation schedules with production and replenishment needs.
- Communicate transportation risks in planning meetings and propose mitigation strategies.
- Oversee daily transportation flow, including driver activity, dock assignments, and real‑time issue resolution.
- Prioritize inbound international containers and coordinate with receiving teams.
- Ensure timely completion and accuracy of freight documentation, including BOLs and packing lists.
- Update customers on delivery schedules, anticipated delays, and special arrangements.
- Address and resolve customer inquiries related to route planning and delivery.
- Ensure that all routing and delivery processes adhere to company policies and local transportation regulations.
- Train team members in route‑planning software as needed.
- Identify opportunities to improve transportation processes and escalation paths.
- Maintain and analyze transportation KPIs such as on‑time performance, exceptions, and trailer utilization.
- Attend meetings as required and/or assigned.
- Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.
- Travel as needed.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong working knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook; SAP, WMS and MRP.
- Knowledge and understanding of Supply Chain processes.
- Knowledge and experience with replenishment tools and applications.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong decision‑making and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to be self‑motivated, working with minimal supervision.
- Ability to perform with superior service, reflecting a positive company image while sustaining a positive attitude with those you interact with.
- Ability to adhere to the highest standards of quality while continually performing at the highest possible level.

- Ability to handle difficult situations and determine appropriate resolution.

- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 5 or more years of experience in transportation, distribution, or logistics operations required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Logistics, or equivalent experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of transportation operations and carrier performance management.
- Base: $65,000 - $85,000 annually, based on specific compensable factors including, but not limited to education, work experience, and geographic market.
