Position: Senior Advisor, Safeguarding Prevention (P4)

Overview

Save the Children is looking for a Senior Advisor, Safeguarding Prevention. You will be integral to helping vulnerable children achieve a brighter future by mainstreaming safeguarding throughout the organization to ensure Save the Children US is safe for children and their families. You will lead safeguarding policy implementation across four categories: raising awareness, prevention, reporting, and responding. You will lead national safeguarding training, provide guidance to Safeguarding Advisors and Focal Points, lead the Safeguarding Community of Practice, and support safeguarding investigations as needed.

Hybrid – Washington DC, Fairfield, CT or Lexington, KY office locations

What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)
  • Training, & Awareness Raising, and Capacity Building – 45%:
    Present at New Employee Orientations and other safeguarding inductions, design and deliver trainings, develop formalized safeguarding trainings/tools, build capacity of Safeguarding Advisors and teams, and provide guidance on safeguarding policy across departments.
  • Prevention – 45%:
    Create and maintain safeguarding resources, conduct background checks, support recruitment with safeguarding considerations, conduct risk assessments, develop tools for program design, monitor and evaluate the Safer Partnership Initiative, participate in safeguarding communities of practice.
  • Reporting – 5%:
    Guide staff on reporting requirements, coordinate Safeguarding Office Hours, and assist with implementation of child-friendly complaints and feedback mechanisms.
  • Responding – 5%:
    Conduct desk reviews and investigations for safeguarding concerns, assist with high-risk investigations, track cases, and support policy updates based on lessons learned.
Required Qualifications For

The Role
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, plus at least 7 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience in providing technical support for child development, safety, and/or safeguarding activities
  • Proven experience in facilitating training and learning sessions for adults
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with individuals and teams at all levels, internal and external
  • Critical thinking skills and comfort with independent judgment
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with tact and discretion
  • Commitment to fostering and maintaining an environment of multiculturalism, inclusion, and belonging
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 15%
  • Professional proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Professional proficiency in spoken and written English
Preferred Qualifications For

The Role
  • Proven successful experience conducting safeguarding investigations
  • Spanish fluency highly desirable
Compensation

Save the Children is offering the following salary ranges for this position, dependent on candidate location:

  • Geo 1 - NY Metro, DC, and other locations with labor costs significantly above national average:
    Target Salary for this position is $119,425 - $133,475 base salary
  • Geo 2 - Locations around the US National Labor Cost Average:
    Target Salary for this position is $107,525 - $120,175 base salary
  • Geo 3 - Locations significantly below the US National Labor Cost Average:
    Target Salary for this position is $96,050 - $107,350 base salary

The salary ranges listed above are for US based candidates. For candidates located outside of the US, salary ranges will be based on the salary scales of the local employer of record. Actual base salary may vary based on, but not limited to, relevant experience, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location.
