We are seeking an experienced Bridge Department Manager to lead business development, financial performance, and team management for a local civil engineering department. This role is ideal for a senior engineering leader with strong experience in bridge and horizontal structural engineering , along with a proven track record in project management, business development, and staff leadership . The ideal candidate will bring both technical depth and leadership strength to help grow market presence, support project delivery, and build a high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate strategic growth plans with office managers and practice leaders
- Establish and grow market presence through marketing and business development efforts
- Manage the department financial budget and allocate resources accordingly
- Lead and contribute to proposal development and client presentations
- Serve as a technical resource to project managers and engineering staff
- Identify staffing needs and support resource planning for the department
- Interview, hire, and develop team members
- Conduct performance reviews based on team and project feedback
- Lead continuous performance management through coaching, goal setting, 1:1 meetings, and feedback
- Support team growth, leadership development, and department success
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited program
- Professional Engineer (PE) License required
- Minimum 10 years of bridge / horizontal structural engineering experience
- Strong experience in project management and business development
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Demonstrated leadership experience in team management, hiring, and performance development
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Experience working with local county and state-level clients
- Supervisory or department leadership experience
- Background in growing client relationships and expanding regional market presence
