The Quality Assurance Inspector will perform quality control inspections, checks, and tests during and after the manufacture of material handling products. May also be responsible to inspect materials, parts and products at all stages of production to ensure that quality standards, processes, and policies are built into the products, resulting in top quality material handling products being delivered to our dealers and customer.
In this position you could be assigned to different areas to perform various inspection tasks, including final inspection of products coming off the assembly lines, or inspecting and auditing of supplier parts to ensure that there is a consistent quality expectation across the supplier base. The individual must embrace a role in assuring defects do not reach the customer.
This position is located in our Lexington, KY manufacturing facility on first shift.
Essential Functions- Responsible to perform in-process and final inspections of various types of material handling equipment coming off the assembly lines, or supplier parts. Will be checking for mechanical issues, assembly errors, defective parts, malfunctions and any issue that does not meet our quality standards.
- Inspections could require the use of precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, depth gages, optical comparators, height gages, torque wrenches, multi-meters, durometers, thread gauges, hardness testers, verniers, and coordinate measuring equipment.
- Will be responsible to clearly present written descriptions of inspection results
- Establishes and maintains a quality system to ensure that the products manufactured meet our quality standards and are defect free. Develop root cause analysis procedures to resolve quality issues.
- Develops and carries out quality improvement programs using data to target improvement activities in supply base or assemblers’ performance.
- Will be a significant contributor to the overall quality of our products. Ensures that initial sample runs, and first articles go smoothly.
- Gives feedback to necessary departments on the problems discovered such as incorrect or incomplete drawings or other issues.
- Solicit input from Purchasing, Engineering, Supplier Quality and suppliers to determine rework or scrap of non-conforming material.
- Track defects by developing and maintaining charts/logs using various programs for feedback to appropriate personnel.
- Document and record issues found on other Clark factory trucks and parts. Keep thorough records of costs and expenses relating to the rework of all Clark products. Send detailed emails and fill out corrective actions or non conforming forms and send to affiliates. Then summarize all issues and make quarterly reports.
- Attend QA meetings, take minutes, keep track of action items, and solve any CLARK supplier related issues.
- Prior experience in a mechanical manufacturing environment, with a technical degree preferred or equivalent experience.
- A high-level mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Knowledge of inspection techniques.
- Proven track record of process and quality improvements.
- Understanding of ERP systems in multi-site environment.
- Cross functional experience giving a broad appreciation of business needs.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others internally and externally at various levels of the organization through clear, concise writing and telephone usage with influencing skills.
- Ability to handle volume and mix of assignments on a daily basis.
- Must have efficient Computer skills and be able to create forms, spreadsheets, reports and presentations.
- Must have good interpersonal skills, and good analytical skills.
- Ability to lift and move parts up to 50lb.
- Working knowledge of small hand tools, inspection techniques, and quality control gages.
- Strong Statistical Analysis skills, strong attention to detail
- Excellent attendance and safety record.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Indefinitely.
The incumbent is located in a Warehouse & Manufacturing environment which is described as follows:
May encounter loud noise from various machinery and equipment that may generate loud noise and vibration, varying temperatures (including heat during summer and from the operation of equipment). The incumbent may encounter oil, grease, paint, solvents and other potentially hazardous materials. The incumbent may also encounter dust, fumes, flying debris, and fast-moving machinery, such as forklift trucks when performing duties.
