Job Summary

The Mechanical Assembler is responsible for assembling precision-fabricated metal components, subassemblies, and mechanical systems according to engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions. This role requires hands‑on mechanical aptitude, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced contract manufacturing environment where product mix, volume, and customer requirements vary.

Hours

HOURS ARE 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM; MON‑FRI. OT AT TIMES REQUIRED – WORK UNTIL 3:30 PM.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assembly & Fabrication
  • Assemble metal parts, hardware, and mechanical components using hand tools, power tools, and production equipment.
  • Perform fitting, alignment, drilling, tapping, deburring, riveting, and fastener installation per requirements.
  • Interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, BOMs, and assembly work instructions with accuracy.
  • Conduct basic fabrication tasks such as cutting, grinding, filing, and minor adjustments to ensure proper fit.
  • Operate machines and equipment commonly used in metal assembly (e.g., pneumatic tools, torque tools, presses, drills).
Quality & Inspection
  • Inspect incoming fabricated components for defects, dimensional accuracy, and adherence to specifications.
  • Verify assemblies meet tolerances and quality standards using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measuring tools.
  • Document inspection results and report non-conformances through established quality procedures.
  • Ensure all assemblies meet customer, engineering, and industry standards.
Production Support
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), job travelers, and production schedules.
  • Collaborate with engineering, welding, machining, and fabrication teams to resolve build issues.
  • Assist in continuous improvement initiatives such as 5S, waste reduction, and process optimization.
Safety & Work Environment
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation following 5S and safety guidelines.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies, PPE requirements, and OSHA standards.
  • Handle materials safely, including lifting, rigging, and use of hoists when applicable.
Minimum Qualifications Required
  • 1–3 years of mechanical assembly experience, preferably in metal fabrication or manufacturing.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and mechanical drawings.
  • Strong proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality.
Preferred
  • Experience in a contract manufacturing environment or job-shop style production.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Experience assembling welded or CNC‑machined metal components.
  • Basic knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, or electrical components is a plus.
Physical Demands

Manufacturing floor environment with exposure to noise, machinery, and metal‑fabrication processes.
Requires use of PPE including safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.
Work may include overtime or modified shifts based on customer demand.
