CNC Machinist – 3M Lexington, KY

3M is seeking a CNC Machinist to work at its Lexington, KY plant. The role involves operating, setting up, and programming CNC machines to produce high‑precision components for various materials.

Performs advanced CNC machine setups and operation of conventional CNC machines and machining centers for both Tungsten and wet machining processes.

• Operate and program advanced CNC machines to machine dispenser cathode emitting surfaces and bodies while maintaining tolerances of +0.002 to –0.002.
• Run multiple machines, including hand lathes, and perform basic machine maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Follow work instructions, method sheets, and engineering drawings to meet quality, productivity, and efficiency goals.
• Use grinders, collets, and small hand tools to shape, sharpen, and assemble parts under a microscope.
• Conduct quality checks with AQL every 25 parts and analyze surface finish.
• Participate in all safety and regulatory training and adhere to plant safety rules and PPE requirements.

• High School Diploma or GED; or Associate’s degree, five years of related experience, or equivalent education and experience.
• Proficient CNC machining experience on Hardinge, Mori Seki, Optomec, Okuma 3000, or similar equipment.
• Ability to run at least two machines and program in G & M codes for Fanuc controls.
• Familiar with cutting materials such as Tungsten, Moly, Kovar, Stainless, and Aluminum.
• Strong reading and interpreting capabilities for drawings, routers, and measurements; basic math and handheld tools skills.
• Experience with tolerances of ±0.0002, and ability to perform basic calculations and measurements.
• Minimum 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
