Job SummaryPosition requires the assessment and review of patient history, and ability to use vascular guidelines while determining the appropriate intravenous access device for each patient. The primary responsibilities include providing total, comprehensive, continuous and patient‑centered care which consists of assessing, documenting, planning, implementing, teaching, developing, and evaluating a comprehensive nursing plan of care; delivering direct patient care; ensuring patient satisfaction; training and delegating duties for Nursing Care Technicians;
and adhering to University policies and procedures as well as federal, state and local regulations. The environment supports collaborative efforts among the nursing staff and the team of physicians to increase communication and enhance expected patient outcomes.
The essential functions for this position include the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50-100 pounds on a daily basis and 25-50 pounds frequently; as well as stand, walk and sit for long periods of time. Conditions may involve exposure to communicable diseases, radiation hazards, and injury from patients or sharp instruments.
ShiftMust be able to work a total of 60 hours in a 2 week pay period, working from 7am until 7:30pm (will work 3 twelve‑hour shifts one week and 2 twelve‑hour shifts the other week). Will also be required to work some weekend and holiday shifts.
Skills / Knowledge / AbilitiesThe ideal candidate will have knowledge of Maslow’s eight Basic Human Needs, Gordon’s Functional Health Patterns framework, and Swanson’s Caring model; superb direct patient care and critical thinking skills; basic computer navigation skills; ability to communicate professionally; strong organizational, prioritization, and delegation skills; motivation, proactivity, confidence in advocating for patients; excellent teamwork, work independently, and open communication. Exceptional technical skills and a proven ability to work in a team as well as independently are also desired.
