This Pre/Post Operative Registered Nurse (RN) opportunity is a full-time position located on-site at our surgery center in Lexington, KY. The Pre/Post Operative RN reports to the Pre/Post Operative Manager.
Registered Pre/Post Operative Staff Nurse
Roles and Responsibilities:
Responsible for patient's admission and pre-operative care Holistic preparation for surgery, including pre-operative education, communication with escort/family members, psychosocial needs, utilizing preference cards, and acting under established protocols, practices, and standing orders
Coordinates pre-operative lab work required for individual patients
Performs thorough and accurate continual patient assessments
Anticipates potential problems during patient assessment; documents & reports pertinent results to the anesthesiologist, supervisor, and/or surgeon appropriately
Supervises and directs, as delegated, the activities of non-professional personnel
Acts as discharge nurse when assigned, including patients and significant others (SO)/ families in developing an individualized plan of care Educate patients/SO/families to their disease process and plan of care Serve as a patient advocate and be responsible for providing care to patients requiring treatment of any medical, surgical, or other condition
Demonstrates good nursing knowledge base and rationale for decision-making
Documents actions in medical record completely and accurately in a timely manner

Qualifications:
Education requirement:
Bachelor's Degree or Associate's Degree in Nursing Kentucky RN License Certification requirements:
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required
PALS preferred
Experience in an Ambulatory Surgery Center is preferred
Positive attitude, desire to efficiently support the care of patients, work in a team relationship with other health care workers to produce positive outcomes.
Strong ethical and moral character references
Ability to promote favorable facility image with physicians, patients, insurance companies and the public
