ADN - Required Experience:
No experience required. - Required License/Registration/Certification:
Active Kentucky Registered Nurse (RN) license, Temporary Work Permit (TWP), Provisional License or active compact state RN license in good standing, and American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification valid for at least 6 months after employment date. - Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50-100 pounds daily and 25-50 pounds frequently; stand, walk, and sit for long periods; exposure to communicable diseases, radiation hazards, and potential injury from patients or sharp instruments. - Shift: Must work two 12‑hour day shifts (7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.) every Saturday & Sunday; work 24 hours / week and receive a 32‑hour / week weekend premium position (WEPP).
- Job Summary:
Registered Nurses in the Adult Medicine / Pulmonary Services Unit on Chandler 6 North and 6 East provide care for moderately stable adult patients with fluctuating acuity and complex needs. Care includes frequent assessment of pulmonary, renal, cardiac, vascular, and neurological conditions.The primary responsibilities are to provide total, comprehensive, continuous, and patient‑centered care: assessing, documenting, planning, implementing, teaching, developing, and evaluating a comprehensive nursing plan; delivering direct patient care; ensuring patient satisfaction; training and delegating duties for Nursing Care Technicians; and adhering to University policies and local regulations. Collaboration with nursing staff and physicians is essential to enhance communication and expected patient outcomes.
- Skills / Knowledge / Abilities:
Knowledge of Maslow’s Basic Human Needs and Gordon’s Functional Health Patterns, Swanson’s Caring model; superb direct patient care and critical thinking; basic computer skills; effective communication with patients, families, co‑workers, and physicians; strong organizational, prioritization, and delegation skills; motivation, pro‑activity, and confidence in advocating for patients; teamwork and independent work ability. - Preferred
Education / Experience:
