Job SummaryThe RN provides comprehensive, continuous, patient‑centered care on the Adult Medicine Services Pavilion for patients who are moderately stable with fluctuating acuity and complex needs. The role includes assessing and treating pulmonary, renal, cardiac, vascular, and neurological conditions, monitoring patients in progressive care and telemetry, and facilitating safe transitions from intensive care to progressive/acute care.
Primary Responsibilities- Assess, document, plan, implement, teach, develop, and evaluate individualized nursing plans of care
- Deliver direct patient care and perform frequent treatments as ordered by the physician
- Train and delegate duties to Nursing Assistants and Nursing Care Technicians
- Ensure patient satisfaction and adhere to university policies, federal, state, and local regulations
- Collaborate with physicians and nursing staff to enhance communication and patient outcomes
- Three 12‑hour shifts (Days 7:00 AM–7:30 PM or Nights 7:00 PM–7:30 AM)
- 36 hours per week; weekend and holiday work required
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50–100 lb daily and 25–50 lb frequently
- Stand, walk, and sit for long periods
- Work in conditions that may involve communicable diseases, radiation hazards, and injuries from patients or sharp instruments
- Education:
Minimum ADN (BSN preferred with at least 1 year RN experience) - Experience:
No experience required; proven competence in critical thinking, clinical assessment, and patient education - Certification:
Active Kentucky RN license (or provisional/compact RN license in good standing) and valid AHA Basic Life Support for at least 6 months after hire - Skills:
Knowledge of Maslow’s Human Needs, Gordon’s Functional Health Patterns, and Swanson’s Caring Model; strong direct care and critical‑thinking skills; basic computer navigation; professional communication; organizational, prioritization, and delegation skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team
