Preferred Education / ExperienceBSN + AT LEAST 1 YEAR OF RN EXPERIENCE PREFERRED
Required License / Registration / CertificationActive Kentucky Registered Nurse (RN) license;
Temporary Work Permit (TWP);
Provisional License or active compact state RN license in good standing; and American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification valid for at least 6 months after employment date.
The essential functions include the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50-100 pounds daily and 25-50 pounds frequently; stand, walk, and sit for long periods; exposure to communicable diseases, radiation hazards, and injury from sharp instruments.
ShiftMust be able to work three 12‑hour shifts 7P 730AM NIGHT SHIFT /36 HRS PER WEEK; some weekend and holiday work required. Shift schedule determined upon interview.
Job SummaryRegistered Nurses in Tower 100 ICU of the Trauma Acute Care Surgical Services Center at UK Chandler Hospital provide care primarily for adult patients with trauma or acute care surgical conditions. Patient conditions include injuries from blunt and penetrating trauma and vascular surgeries.
Responsibilities- Provide total, comprehensive, continuous, patient‑centered care: assess, document, plan, implement, teach, develop, and evaluate comprehensive nursing plans of care.
- Deliver direct patient care and ensure patient satisfaction.
- Train and delegate duties for Nursing Care Technicians (Nursing Assistants).
- Adhere to University policies and procedures, and federal, state, and local regulations.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and physician team to improve communication and patient outcomes.
- Knowledge of Maslow's eight Basic Human Needs, Gordon's Functional Health Patterns Framework, and Swanson's Caring model.
- Strong direct patient care and critical thinking skills.
- Basic computer navigation and internet usage.
- Professional, respectful communication with patients, families, coworkers, and physicians.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and delegation skills.
- Motivated, proactive, confident advocate for patients and families.
