Job SummaryThe primary responsibilities for this position consist of providing total, comprehensive, continuous and patient centered care which includes assessing, documenting, planning, implementing, teaching, developing, and evaluating a comprehensive nursing plan of care; delivering direct patient care; ensuring patient satisfaction; training and delegating duties for Nursing Care Technicians; and adhering to University policies and procedures as well as federal, state and local regulations.
The environment supports collaborative efforts among the nursing staff and physicians to increase communication and enhance expected patient outcomes, utilizing nursing process with comprehensive patient‑centered plan of care.
The essential functions include the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50-100 pounds daily and 25-50 pounds frequently; standing, walking, and sitting for long periods; and exposure to communicable diseases, radiation hazards, and injuries from intractable patients or sharp instruments.
Skills & KnowledgeThe ideal candidate will have knowledge of Maslow's eight Basic Human Needs, Gordon's Functional Health Patterns Framework, and Swanson's Caring model; superb direct patient care and critical thinking skills; basic computer navigation and internet knowledge; professional and respectful communication with patients, families, co‑workers and physicians; strong organizational, prioritization, and delegation skills. The candidate should be highly motivated, pro‑active, confident in patient advocacy, enjoy teamwork, and possess exceptional technical skills and proven ability to work independently.
RequiredEducation & Licensure
ADN required. Active Kentucky Registered Nurse (RN) license or provisional license or compact state RN license valid;
American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification valid for at least 6 months after employment.
BSN + at least 1 year of RN experience preferred.
