Active Kentucky Registered Nurse license (or equivalent compact state license) in good standing and American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification (valid for at least 6 months after employment date)
Registered Nurses in the PAV A Pulmonary Medicine ICU at UK Chandler Hospital provide continuous, patient‑centered care to critically ill patients with conditions such as sepsis, CHF, GI bleed, COPD, drug overdose, respiratory failure, renal failure, hepatic failure, and multisystem organ failure. The ICU employs cardiac monitoring, hemodynamic monitoring, mechanical ventilation, CRRT, vasoactive drip titration, fluid resuscitation, and other critical therapies.
Responsibilities- Assess, document, plan, implement, teach, develop, and evaluate comprehensive nursing care plans.
- Deliver direct patient care and ensure patient satisfaction.
- Train and delegate duties for Nursing Care Technicians (Nursing Assistants).
- Adhere to university policies, procedures, and federal, state, and local regulations.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and physicians to enhance communication and expected patient outcomes.
- Knowledge of Gordon’s Functional Health Patterns, Swanson’s Caring model, and Maslow’s eight Basic Human Needs.
- Proficient direct patient care, critical thinking, and technical skills.
- Basic computer navigation skills and working knowledge of the internet.
- Strong communication, organizational, prioritization, and delegation skills.
- Highly motivated, proactive, and confident advocate for patients and families.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
BSN + at least 1 year of RN experience (preferred).
