Job SummaryThe primary responsibilities for this position consist of providing total, comprehensive, continuous, and patient‑centered care including assessment, documentation, planning, implementation, teaching, developing, and evaluating a comprehensive nursing plan of care; delivering direct patient care; ensuring patient satisfaction; training and delegating duties for Nursing Care Technicians; and adhering to University policies and procedures as well as federal, state, and local regulations. The environment supports collaborative efforts among nursing staff and the physician team to enhance patient outcomes.
Responsibilities- Assess, document, plan, implement, teach, develop, evaluate nursing care plans.
- Deliver direct patient care and maintain patient satisfaction.
- Train and delegate duties to Nursing Care Technicians.
- Adhere to university, federal, state, and local regulations and policies.
- Collaborate with physicians and nursing staff to improve communication and patient outcomes.
- Active Kentucky Registered Nurse (RN) license or equivalent (compact state RN or provisional) in good standing.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification valid for at least 6 months after employment date.
- Proficiency with computers and internet navigation.
- Excellent communication, organizational, prioritization, and delegation skills.
- Strong critical thinking and direct patient care skills.
- Motivated, proactive, confident advocate for patients and families.
- High technical competence and ability to work independently and in a team.
Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or higher.
Preferred Education/ExperienceBSN plus at least 1 year RN experience preferred.
Required License/Registration/CertificationActive Kentucky Registered Nurse (RN) license, Temporary Work Permit (TWP), Provisional License, or active compact state Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing; along with an American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification valid for at least 6 months after employment date.
Physical RequirementsMust be able to lift, carry, push, and pull 50–100 pounds daily, 25–50 pounds frequently; stand, walk, and sit for long periods; exposure to communicable diseases, radiation hazards, and injury from patients or sharp instruments.
ShiftThree 12‑hour shifts per week; occasional weekend and holiday work required.
Other Requirements- Staff position with no supervisory responsibilities.
