No experience required. - Required License/Registration/Certification:
Active Kentucky Registered Nurse (RN) license, Temporary Work Permit (TWP), Provisional License or active compact state Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing, and American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification valid for at least 6 months after employment date. - Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50-100 pounds daily and 25-50 pounds frequently; stand, walk, sit for long periods; exposure to communicable diseases, radiation hazards, and potential injury from intractable patients or sharp instruments. - Shift: Must work three 12‑hour NIGHT shifts (7 PM‑7:30 AM), 36 hours per week; weekend and holiday shifts as required.
- Job Summary:
Provide total, comprehensive, continuous patient‑centered care. Assess, document, plan, implement, teach, develop, and evaluate comprehensive nursing plans. Deliver direct patient care; ensure patient satisfaction; train and delegate duties to Nursing Care Technicians (Nursing Assistants); and adhere to University policies, federal, state, and local regulations. Support collaboration among nursing staff and physicians to enhance communication and patient outcomes, using the nursing process and a patient‑centered plan of care. - Skills / Knowledge / Abilities:
Knowledge of Maslow’s eight Basic Human Needs, Gordon’s Functional Health Patterns Framework, and Swanson’s Caring model; superb direct patient care and critical thinking skills; basic computer navigation and internet use; professional, respectful communication with patients, families, co‑workers, and physicians; strong organizational, prioritization, and delegation skills; proactive, confident patient advocacy; teamwork and independent work; exceptional technical abilities. - Does this position have supervisory responsibilities?:
