Required License/Registration/Certification- Active Kentucky Registered Nurse (RN) license, Temporary Work Permit (TWP), Provisional License or active compact state Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- AHA Basic Life Support certification valid for at least 6 months after employment date.
The essential functions include the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50‑100 pounds on a daily basis and 25‑50 pounds frequently; as well as stand, walk and sit for long periods of time. The conditions of work may involve exposure to communicable diseases, hazards of radiation, and injury from intractable patients or sharp instruments.
ShiftMust be able to work three 12‑hour night shifts, 7:00 PM‑7:30 AM, 36 hours per week.
Must work some weekends and holidays as required per unit needs/schedule.

Job SummaryRegistered Nurses in the Chandler 8 Main at UK Chandler Hospital provide care for Adult Medicine Services patients who are moderately stable, with fluctuating patient acuity, have complex needs and require comprehensive care. Patient care will include frequent assessment of pulmonary, renal, cardiac, vascular, and neurological conditions.
The primary responsibilities include assessing, documenting, planning, implementing, teaching, developing, and evaluating a comprehensive nursing plan of care; delivering direct patient care; ensuring patient satisfaction; training and delegating duties for Nursing Care Technicians (Nursing Assistant); and adhering to University policies, procedures, and federal, state, and local regulations. The environment supports collaborative efforts among nursing staff and physicians to increase communication and enhance patient outcomes.
Skills/ Knowledge / Abilities
Knowledge of Maslow’s eight Basic Human Needs, Gordon’s Functional Health Patterns Framework, and Swanson’s Caring model; superb direct patient care and critical thinking skills; basic computer navigation skills and working knowledge of the internet; ability to communicate professionally and respectfully with patients, families, co‑workers, and physicians; strong organizational, prioritization, and delegation skills. The candidate is highly motivated, proactive, and confident in advocating for patients and their families.
Enjoys working in a team environment with open, honest communication.
- BSN + at least 1 year of RN experience.
