Education:

ADN (Administrative Degree in Nursing)

Preferred Education:

BSN + at least 1 year of RN experience

Required License/Registration/Certification:

  • Active Kentucky Registered Nurse (RN) license, Temporary Work Permit (TWP), Provisional License, or active compact state RN license in good standing;
  • AHA Basic Life Support certification valid for at least 6 months after employment date.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50‑100 pounds daily and 25‑50 pounds frequently; stand, walk, and sit for long periods. Exposure to communicable diseases, radiation hazards, and injury from intractable patients or sharp instruments may occur.

Shift: 7p. Must work three 12‑hour shifts per week, including weekends and holidays.

Job Summary

Provide total, comprehensive, continuous, and patient‑centered care, including assessing, documenting, planning, implementing, teaching, developing, and evaluating a comprehensive nursing plan of care; delivering direct patient care; ensuring patient satisfaction; training and delegating duties for Nursing Care Technicians (Nursing Assistants); and adhering to university policies and procedures as well as federal, state, and local regulations. Supports collaborative efforts among the nursing staff and physicians to increase communication and enhance patient outcomes, utilizing the nursing process in conjunction with a comprehensive patient‑centered plan of care.

Responsibilities
  • Assess, document, plan, implement, teach, develop, and evaluate nursing plans of care.
  • Deliver direct patient care and ensure patient satisfaction.
  • Train and delegate duties to Nursing Care Technicians.
  • Adhere to university policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff and physicians to improve communication and patient outcomes.
  • Utilize the nursing process and comprehensive patient‑centered plans of care.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of Maslow's Basic Human Needs and Gordon's Functional Health Patterns Framework, as well as Swanson's Caring model.
  • Superb direct patient care and critical‑thinking skills.
  • Basic computer navigation skills and working knowledge of the internet.
  • Professional, respectful communication with patients, families, co‑workers, and physicians.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and delegation skills.
  • Highly motivated, proactive, confident advocate for patients and families.
  • Team‑oriented, open, honest communication; ability to work independently.
  • Exceptional technical skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • BSN (or higher education in nursing) plus at least one year of RN experience.
  • Experience with acute and trauma care settings is advantageous.
Shift Expectations

Three 12‑hour shifts per week, scheduled primarily at 7p, with additional weekend and holiday coverage as needed.
