Required License/Registration/Certification:
- Active Kentucky Registered Nurse (RN) license, Temporary Work Permit (TWP), Provisional License or active compact state Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing, and American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification valid for at least 6 months after employment date.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50-100 pounds daily and 25-50 pounds frequently; stand, walk, and sit for extended periods. Exposure to communicable diseases, radiation, and injury from intractable patients or sharp instruments is possible.

Job Summary: Provide total, comprehensive, continuous, patient‑centered care including assessment, documentation, planning, implementing, teaching, developing, and evaluating a nursing plan of care; deliver direct patient care; ensure patient satisfaction; train and delegate duties for Nursing Care Technicians; and adhere to University policies, federal, state, and local regulations. Promote collaborative efforts among nursing staff and physicians to enhance communication and patient outcomes.

- Knowledge of Maslow’s eight Basic Human Needs, Gordon’s Functional Health Patterns framework, and Swanson’s Caring model.
- Superb direct patient care and critical‑thinking skills.
- Basic computer navigation skills and working knowledge of the internet.
- Effective communication with patients, families, co‑workers, and physicians.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and delegation skills.
- Pro‑active, confident patient advocacy and teamwork.
- Exceptional technical skills and ability to work independently.
