Job SummaryThe primary responsibilities for this position consist of providing total, comprehensive, continuous, and patient‑centered care which includes assessing, documenting, planning, implementing, teaching, developing, and evaluating a comprehensive nursing plan of care; delivering direct patient care; ensuring patient satisfaction; training and delegating duties to Nursing Care Technicians; and adhering to university policies and procedures as well as federal, state, and local regulations.
The environment supports collaborative efforts among the nursing staff and the team of physicians to increase communication and enhance expected patient outcomes.
- Provide total, comprehensive, continuous, and patient‑centered care.
- Assess, document, plan, implement, teach, develop, and evaluate nursing care plans.
- Deliver direct patient care and ensure patient satisfaction.
- Train and delegate duties to Nursing Care Technicians (Nursing Assistant).
- Adhere to university policies and procedures and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and physicians to enhance communication and patient outcomes.
- Support the nursing process and patient‑centered care plans.
- Follow standards for nursing practice and safety.
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50-100 pounds daily and 25-50 pounds frequently; stand, walk, and sit for extended periods. Exposure to communicable diseases, radiation hazards, and potential injury from patients or sharp instruments may occur.

Required ExperienceNo experience required.
Required Licenses & Certifications- Active Kentucky Registered Nurse (RN) license, Temporary Work Permit (TWP), Provisional License, or active compact state Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification valid for at least 6 months after employment date.
- BSN and at least 1 year of RN experience.
- Knowledge of Maslow’s eight Basic Human Needs, Gordon’s Functional Health Patterns framework, and Swanson’s Caring model.
- Superb direct patient care and critical thinking skills.
- Basic computer navigation skills and working knowledge of the internet.
- Effective communication with patients, families, co‑workers, and physicians.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and delegation skills.
- Highly motivated, proactive, and confident in advocating for patients and families.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
