Minimum ADN. BSN + 1 year RN experience preferred. - Licensure:
Active Kentucky Registered Nurse license (or equivalent compact license). AHA Basic Life Support certification valid for at least 6 months after employment. - No prior experience required.
The essential functions include the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50-100 pounds daily and 25-50 pounds frequently; stand, walk and sit for long periods. Exposure to communicable diseases, radiation hazards, and injury from patients or sharp instruments possible.
ShiftMust work two 12‑hour shifts each week: 7:00 PM–7:30 AM on Fridays and Saturdays. Weekend Premium Plan (WEPP); some holidays required.
Job SummaryRegistered nurses in the Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit at UK Chandler Hospital provide intensive neurological and neurosurgical care for adult patients aged 15+. Responsibilities include monitoring hemodynamics, medication, ventilation, and complications related to neurological injury.
Key Responsibilities- Assess, document, plan, implement, teach, develop, and evaluate comprehensive nursing plans of care.
- Deliver direct patient care and maintain patient satisfaction.
- Train and delegate duties to Nursing Care Technicians.
- Adhere to university policies, federal, state, and local regulations.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and physicians to improve communication and patient outcomes.
- Utilize the nursing process for patient‑centered care.
- Knowledge of Maslow’s Basic Human Needs, Gordon’s Functional Health Patterns Framework, and Swanson’s Caring model.
- Superb direct patient care and critical thinking skills.
- Basic computer navigation skills and working knowledge of the internet.
- Professional communication with patients, families, colleagues, and physicians.
- Strong organization, prioritization, and delegation skills.
- Motivation, pro‑active attitude, confidence in patient advocacy, and teamwork.
No supervisory responsibilities.
