Required License/Registration/Certification: Active Kentucky Registered Nurse (RN) license, Temporary Work Permit (TWP), Provisional License or active compact state RN license in good standing and American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers valid for at least 6 months after employment date.
Physical Requirements: The essential functions include lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling 50-100 pounds daily and 25-50 pounds frequently; standing, walking and sitting for long periods. Work may involve exposure to communicable diseases, hazards of radiation, and injury from sharp instruments.
Responsibilities- Provide total, comprehensive, continuous, patient-centered care including assessment, documentation, planning, implementation, teaching, development, and evaluation of a comprehensive nursing plan of care.
- Deliver direct patient care and ensure patient satisfaction.
- Train and delegate duties for Nursing Care Technicians (Nursing Assistants).
- Adhere to University policies and procedures and to federal, state and local regulations.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and physicians to increase communication and improve patient outcomes, utilizing a patient-centered plan of care.
- Knowledge of Maslow’s eight Basic Human Needs and Gordon’s Functional Health Patterns framework;
Swanson’s Caring model. - Superb direct patient care and critical thinking skills.
- Basic computer navigation skills and working knowledge of the internet.
- Ability to communicate professionally with patients, families, coworkers and physicians.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and delegation skills. Motivated, proactive, and able to advocate for patients and families.
- Ability to work in a team environment and independently; strong technical skills.
- Educational/Experience preference: BSN with at least 1 year of RN experience (preferred).
- Active Kentucky RN license or equivalent (or temporary/provisional/compact) and current AHA BLS certification.
