Registered Nurse, Medical Surgical Unit – 6 Main (Good Samaritan Hospital)

$28.00–$39.10 per hour

Full‑time, 3×12‑hour night shifts per week (7 PM – 7:30 AM) plus occasional weekend and holiday duties.

Must lift, carry, push, and pull 50–100 lb daily; stand, walk, and sit for extended periods; may be exposed to communicable diseases, radiation hazards, and injury from patients or sharp instruments.

• Provide total, comprehensive, continuous, and patient‑centered care to adults with diverse medical‑surgical needs (diabetes, endocrine disorders, gastrointestinal disorders, wound care, pre‑ and post‑operative cases).
• Assess, document, plan, implement, teach, develop, and evaluate individualized nursing plans of care using the nursing process.
• Deliver direct patient care and ensure patient satisfaction.
• Train and delegate duties for Nursing Care Technicians (Nursing Assistants).
• Adhere to University policies, federal, state, and local regulations.
• Collaborate with nursing staff and physicians to enhance communication and achieve expected patient outcomes.

• Associate in Nursing (ADN) or higher; BSN is preferred.
• Active Kentucky registered nurse (RN) license or equivalent (e.g., TWP, provisional, or compact RN license).
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification, valid for at least 6 months after employment.
• None or minimal related experience required.
• Strong direct patient care, critical thinking, and communication skills.
• Basic computer navigation and internet proficiency.
• Organizational, prioritization, and delegation skills.
• Professional, respectful communication with patients, families, co‑workers, and physicians.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• BSN and at least one year of RN experience.
