Job Summary

The Division Charge Nurse (DCN) is responsible for assuring quality care during her/his tour of duty. The DCN manages nursing resources, ensures patient safety, oversees throughput, and collaborates with staff to maintain efficient and safe patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Resource management: ensure adequate numbers of competent nurses are available; act as a clinical and systems resource for nurses and assist staff in planning appropriate patient care delivery.
  • Professional development: supervise nursing staff, provide guidance during orientation and ongoing professional development, and collaborate with the Director and Patient Care Managers to assist with performance reviews.
  • Customer service: develop collaborative relationships with physicians, ancillary staff, patients, and families; interview patients and families to ensure expectations are exceeded; resolve conflicts among personnel, patients, physicians and families.
  • Facilitate quality patient care: identify problems with patient care and initiate actions for resolution; ensure policies and guidelines are followed; facilitate staff completion of competency requirements; coordinate quality improvement projects.
Qualifications
  • Required

    Education:

    Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Required Experience:

    Minimum of 2 years related experience
  • Required License/Registration/Certification:
    Registered Nurse (RN) license; other state licenses recognized as applicable
Shift & Work Hours

Must be able to work three 12‑hour shifts every week from 7pm until 7:30am, with possible holiday and weekend work.
