- BSN
- 2 years related nursing experience
- Active Kentucky nursing license or active compact state nursing license in good standing
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification valid for at least 6 months after employment date
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (ACLS)
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) certification
- Approved advanced national nursing certification required within 18 months of hire date
- Physical ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50-100 pounds daily and 25-50 pounds frequently; stand, walk, and sit for long periods of time; and tolerate exposure to communicable diseases, radiation hazards, and injury from patients or sharp instruments
- Must be able to work three 12‑hour shifts per week from 7 am until 7:30 pm; weekend and holiday work may be required
In the critical core program, nurses apply the nursing process to care for and counsel individuals, promote health, prevent illness and injury, and support transitions of care. They use a systematic, critical‑thinking approach to guide data collection, assessment, clinical judgment, intervention, and evaluation of human responses to health issues. Care is delivered through health teaching, counseling, and restorative support.
Nurses will care for patients within the UK Health Care Enterprise at Good Samaritan and Chandler Hospitals, addressing a diverse range of conditions from surgical complications and acute medical conditions to chronic illness, trauma, behavioral health, pain management, and end‑of‑life care.
They will coordinate and manage all aspects of nursing care in a timely, cost‑effective manner, collaborating with patients, families, and the healthcare team to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities- Knowledge of Maslow’s eight Basic Human Needs, Gordon’s Functional Health Patterns framework, and Swanson’s Caring model
- Proficient direct patient care and critical‑thinking skills
- Basic computer navigation and working knowledge of the internet
- Effective communication with patients, families, co‑workers, and physicians
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and delegation skills
- Highly motivated, proactive, and confident in advocating for patients and families
- Team‑oriented, providing open, honest communication with staff and physicians
- Exceptional technical skills and proven ability to work independently and in a team
- 2 years Critical Care RN experience
