Licenses/Certifications:
Registered Nurse and American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification for the Healthcare Provider; certified in Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EM) and Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) Fetal Monitoring Certification within 6 months of hire; AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Instructor Certification within 1 year of hire - Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50-100 pounds daily; lift 25-50 pounds frequently; stand, walk and sit for long periods; exposure to communicable diseases, radiation hazards and potential injury from patients or sharp instruments
- Shift: Three 12‑hour shifts per week from 7 am until 7:30 pm with occasional weekend and holiday work

The fetal monitoring nurse is a member of the collaborative care team responsible for providing continuous vigilance and tele‑nursing focused on early prevention/intervention of abnormal fetal heart rate tracings within the Birthing Center to decrease fetal/neonatal morbidity and mortality. The role emphasizes patient advocacy, proactive continuous monitoring, prevention, evidence‑based care, telecommunication, clinical decision support, humane and compassionate ethical care.
